Chiropractors as Spinal Care Primary Providers

Chiropractors as Primary Spine Care Providers

Should Chiropractor's be the Primary Spinal Care Providers? I believe that most chiropractic colleges today have trained their students on alternative spinal options for patient care, diagnostic testing, surgical options and how and when to have a referral network with other medical doctors. Many obstacles would lie in the path of this transition like you stated, but the other obstacles would seem to be the differences in various chiropractic techniques, which seem to keep the chiropractic profession as a whole separate at times on which types are considered more successful for various types of conditions. Despite the varying opinions among chiropractors, the global acceptance of chiropractic care as a whole by the medical profession my be the biggest hinderance overall, and their avoidance to integrate alternative medicine options into the mainstream. I believe all of these obstacles are possible to overcome, and who better to serve as the primary spine specialist than the specialists who deal with the spine the most, the chiropractors.

Depression and Back Pain

It's not a surprise that most people suffering from chronic pain also experience depression, but did you know the reverse can be true as well? A 2004 University of Alberta study revealed that depression is a risk factor for onset of severe neck and low back pain. Researchers followed a random sample of nearly 800 adults without neck and low back pain and found that people who suffer from depression are four times as likely to develop intense or disabling neck and low back pain than those who are not depressed.

Its important to get a full examination to see if your pain is a structural problem, so make a chiropractic appointment today.
